Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed)
Please be sure to read this entire bio before applying to adopt. Each dog has different requirements in a forever home and this bio will help you to decide if you are a match for this dog. Barbie came to us via a shelter in northern AZ. Little is known about the first few months of her life, but she's shown us nothing but sweet and goofy since we welcomed her into our foster family. Barbie's breed is a mystery - guesses include golden retriever and labrador retriever mix, perhaps with some herding dog mixed in due to where she came from. Her hair is thick and longer like a golden retriever, and she sheds just like a golden, too! Barbie is energetic, silly, affectionate, playful and eager to please. She adores playing, running and romping with other dogs and is looking for a forever home with a playful and hearty doggie playmate. She's still learning respectful boundaries during playtime, and her forever humans (and dogs) should be ready to help continue reigning in her exuberance during playtime. Barbie has come to love chomping on antlers and other dog bones, and this helps to occupy her when the other dogs in her foster home are done playing. And she also enjoys some good cuddles with her people once she's good and tired. Barbie is an absolute sweetheart and has the potential to be a wonderful family dog. It’s clear Barbie received very little training in her previous life as she's still very much a puppy - jumping on people, using her mouth, running away when called, getting up on the counter and into trash - so her forever family should be ready for a puppy that requires the usual puppy training. Her foster family has worked on her crate, leash and house training, and she's doing well with consistency and structure. She also lives with a sassy kitty who rules the house, and she's very respectful of her (though we should mention she may not be as respectful with a less sassy kitty!). Barbie requires a house with a yard; she is not appropriate for an apartment or other setting with no yard. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application. Because we are still understaffed due to COVID19, we will only be able to email those applicants that are approved to schedule a meet and greet. Thank you in advance for your understanding if you don't hear back from us regarding your application. More about BarbieGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids, Good with Adults
