For the general public, the words "kitten season" probably brings to mind a happy time - when kittens are plentiful and it seems that every adoption group has them. However, to those who are a part of any adoption group for cats, the words "kitten season" means something completely different. Kitten season is the time when people who have not spayed or neutered their pets, bring cardboard boxes full of squirming, furry kittens to Maricopa County's Animal Care & Control. Kitten season is when the euthanasia rate at the AC&C spikes because there is no space for the hundreds of kittens brought in on a weekly basis. Adoption groups try to help in any way we can and Peanut is one of the lucky kittens who made it out of the AC&C. Peanut is a cutie who was rescued with her mom and all of her siblings. And while we look at her sweet face with joy, we also remember those tiny faces we passed by because we had no place for them. Please look into Peanut's face and make the promise to her that she will never be abandoned by humans again.
