Unknown breed / mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Senior : : Medium Yellow Lab Mix
Carmella was scheduled to be euthanized at Animal Care & Control because she was so scared. She shyly slouched against her kennel wall watching woefully as people passed by her cell. It was obvious that this young female had given birth to litters of puppies. It was also obvious that this sweet dog had been given very little love in her life. Something in Carmella's eyes beckoned a volunteer who entered the yellow dog's kennel. Carmella's beautiful tail began to thump and she sunk to the ground submissively. We realized that this dog had so much love to give but had never been given an opportunity to do so. Carmella is now in foster care and is learning to enjoy loving human attention. She is so grateful for kindness that she will offer her paw in exchange for caresses. Carmella hugs the walls when she walks - this means that she was likely used as a breed dog for puppies and kept confined in a small area most of the time. But she is learning to stretch her legs and play. Carmella will make a great dog for someone who is seeking a loyal, intelligent companion. Carmella is doing great with other dogs and cats in her foster home. She would love to be in an adult only home or one with older children since she needs a calmer home to call her own.
