Blue Tick Coonhound

About Samson

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 1347
Samson is a fun-loving, curious, active, 2 year old Blue Tick Coonhound. He has the most beautiful coloring with a mottled gray and black body with a few big black spots and tan legs, muzzle, and eyebrows. He?s an absolute lover who will kiss you all day if you let him. He does not live up to the hound-dog stereotype of being lazy; he loves to run around the house with a toy in his mouth and he does these leaps of joy where all four feet leave the ground. He also enjoys being outside, and would love to have a doggie door where he could come and go as he pleases. He will not go to a home without a yard since he so loves to be outdoors., Samson gets along with just about everyone. His prior place of residence consisted of two cats and two dogs and he did fine with all of them. Here in his foster home he has a 13 week old foster sibling and they play together just fine. However, he does not like to share his food or toys, and will give a warning growl if she gets too close to either. I think he has just automatically taken the position as the dominant one since she is a puppy and she hasn?t learned to respect that yet. She?d rather jump on his head while he?s eating then sit back and leave him be. I think he would do great in a home with other dogs, and we will have them meet and play before any adoption is finalized. He is fine with cats and kids. He has no food aggression whatsoever; I can pet him and stick my hand in his bowl while he?s eating and he just wags his tail., He loves to ride in the car and will love you forever if you crack the window so he can stick his head out. His passion is to have his ears flying and lips and tongue flapping in the breeze., Samson knows sit and come and walks well on a leash most of the time. However, all these things need work and I think he could benefit from obedience training to help him focus a little better. He is very well behaved in the house and can be trusted alone in the house without being crated. He barks at the door when he needs to go out or wants to come in., What more could you ask for? , More on Samson http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=74316838
