About Sandee - In Flagstaff

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 1932
Do you know the joys and rewards of adopting an adult dog? Ask anyone who has skipped over the puppies to adopt an adult dog, and they will probably tell you that they are converts and for now on will only adopt adults. It?s so much easierno house training, no chewing, no hours of obedience classes. Instead, the relationship with your new companion starts right away with time spent just getting to know each other and having fun, not sitting out in the cold for twenty minutes waiting for him or her to go potty!, Meet Sandee: a wonderful adult dog who wants love and companionship, and does not need training. She is ready to become a part of your daily routine. As most adults, be they human or canine, she has a few needs in order to keep her in tip-top shape, but if you?re ready to make a commitment to this special girl, your rewards will be endless., Sandee really throws herself into loving people, and is known to ?nose dive? into anyone who gives her a good rubbing to get as much as possible. This lighthearted girl loves fun and attention, and like the life of any party she is always ready to gowhether it be in the car or on a walk. One of the highlights of her year was walking in the Flagstaff 4th of July Parade, costume and all. , She weighs 55 pounds and is fine with other dogs. When she was tested around cats, she showed no interest. She wouldn?t mind being an only dog or joining the home of a retired couple, although she would also be a good addition to a family with children as young as seven years old. Sandee shows her intelligence by not barking at the neighbors or their dogs, by sitting when she is told, and by knowing to go outside to do her business. She also may be so smart that a lock on the backyard gate is a must. , Sandee was fortunate enough to get knee surgery in August to repair a ligament, and her recovery is going well. A recent check-up with the vet showed great progress, and they have put her on an easy recovery workout. She is up to 30-minute walks each day, and by the beginning of November she?ll be ready for off-leash romps. Like most older dogs (and humans) anti-inflammatories, Glucosamine, and Chondrotin (including some allergy meds during allergy season) will need to be a part of her life. In the morning when you take your vitamins and other medications, you and Sandee can do this together! Other than that, she?ll be an active and enthusiastic companion who is ready to hike (mostly level) trails. In the evenings when it?s time to relax, you can practice some doggy-massage that will help alleviate Sandee?s mild arthritis and create a great bond between the two of you., Anyone who is interested in adopting Sandee can read the medical update from her vet (that reads: ?Sandee is a sweetheart of a dog?) to get all the details.
