Unknown breed / mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Small Dachsund mix
Inside Kennel Number 61 at Animal Care & Control there was a little black dog. It was his last day. He was scheduled to be euthanized because the shelter was bursting with homeless animals and Kennel 61 wasnt showing well. He was scared. He didn't know who anyone was and it was so loud. Dogs were barking - unfamiliar animals. Just looking into his eyes, we knew he was confused and frightened. The way he bowed his head and readily accepted gentle petting, we also knew he was sweet. , We named him Klinger because he has a bog nose, like the character Klinger on M*A*S*H. He also lives up to his name because he loves to be near his humans. So, in that respect, he is a clinger. But not overly needy., In foster care, the scared little dog at the pound has turned into a different creature altogether. He is secure and safe. He loves the 12-year-old boy who is his caretaker. He plays like mad with his fellow foster dog. He sleeps with his favorite humans, he is 100% potty-trained, and can use a doggy door., We strongly recommend that Klinger go to a home with another friendly canine and/or children. This little doxy-mix thrives in a home where there is activity. He will make an absolutely wonderful family friend., Klinger represents so many dogs who are not lucky enough to make it out of the pounds each year. He is young, smart, well-behaved and sweet. His only issue is that his human thought he was disposable. Just like the commercial for Purina says, "Don't pity a shelter dog. Adopt one." We suggest you adopt Klinger ;-)
