Every December, rescue groups descend on the pound in an effort to save as many animals as we can for the holidays. We know the dogs don't know that this time of year is special, and really, in animal rescue there is no month more important than another when it comes to saving lives. But to think that an animal will face death on Christmas Eve or any nights of Chanekuh is just soooo sad. , We entered the pound the week before Christmas and learned that two little dogs, who had been at the shelter since Dec. 1st, were on their last day. They were both trembling in Kennel 6. It is cold in there and little dogs have little natural insulation. These dogs had been turned into the shelter when their elderly owner passed away. With no provisions made for her pets, and no family members able to care for their mother's dogs, these sweet sweet girls ended up at the kill-shelter., Little Lady is a dainty girl. You might notice that one ear folds over her head in a wonky fashion. This is a quirly birth defect (that has no health implications at all) and we think it add to her cuteness. She has a very gentle demeanor and loves to cuddle with her humans., Lady and Contessa are very bonded. We would love to see them adopted together but dont require it. These precious dogs got the gift of a second chance this holiday season. Please give them the best gift of all - a home of their own. Adopt one or both of them and prepare for a lifetime of committed furry love.
