When a dog is abandoned, they lose their self-confidence. There is no way to explain to them that they are safe, once we rescue them. Some bounce back quickly and begin wagging their tail in the car. They know that rescuers are kind and thats all it take for their doggy self-esteem to flourish., Some dogs just can't believe that their humans left them behind. They take it personally, and while they cuddle with us, once they are safely out of the shelter, something in their little spirit is wilting., Rescuers talk to these dogs, pet them and reassure them. We wait for the inevitable .... the day the dog realizes, once again, that he or she is LOVED and it is okay to feel safe again., Little Peach was so upset that her owners left her behind. She trembled and hid her face as if she had done something wrong. However, after much coddling, the light came back into her eyes. She began to smile with her tongue hanging out and all was right in the world again., Peach is a docile dog who loves human companionship. She has a gentle demeanor. She likes the company of other dogs but can be a bit growly at dinner time if another pooch wants to share her meal. Nuthin doin' -- she cleans her plate every time., Come meet Peach -- she is fuzzy soft and super sweet!
